Through the barricades of insecurity in Ipoh

Tight security is expected to be thrown around the Perak State Secretariat where the controversial state assembly meeting is scheduled to be held from May 7 onwards.

Apart from members of the general public predictably being disallowed from entering this area, the number of journalists covering the sitting would also be restricted and reduced. Not only that, online news portals, such as Malaysiakini, are said to have been banned from covering the function.

This approach obviously doesn’t sound people-friendly despite the fact that it was the ordinary rakyat who voted the Perak politicians in.

Alienating the rakyat this way would only reinforce the suspicion that the assemblypersons, or at least some of them, are not willing to be made accountable to the ordinary Perakians in particular and Malaysians in general.

Why the tight security around the Secretariat building? What are they afraid of? That the rakyat will rise up in revolt against the illegal proceedings and ramming through of motions that cannot stand?

The rakyat of Perak are already against the farcical government of Zhamby. They had better not show their face in public as they, perhaps, may have more than just rotten eggs and tomatoes, for Zhamby and company!

The illegal BN Government in Perak is a disgrace to ordinary and right thinking members of civil society.
The people can see through the facade of legitimacy self created by these arrogant power grabbers with no respect for the rights and wishes of the electorate.
It is absolutely demeaning for these so called correct government to resort to the abusive use of high handed security just to assume the peace and comfort of an assembly sitting when the people are not with them.
The proper way to govern a state for the people and by the people is to go back to the people to attain the deserved respect and legitimacy.
