Malaysia buoyed by new commodity

There’s a flicker of hope amidst the global recession that’s biting the Malaysian economy. In fact, Malaysia may well ride out the economic storm with gusto if signs at the Kuala Lumpur stock market are anything to go by.

Moreover, it appears that our economic fundamentals have been reinforced with much zest lately. This is not because of the huge stimulus package that was bandied about by the federal government in recent weeks. Neither was it due to excellent plumbing of ‘leakages’ of the government’s delivery system.

And while the chips are down with the electronics industry having to face poor demand from the American and European markets, Malaysia’s export figures have amazingly — almost Bolehlandisque — tripled over the last few days.

Indeed, Malaysia has been able to export one sole commodity that has increasingly become the rave among foreigners especially from developing countries as far away as Zimbabwe. In a sense, it’s that familiar South-South cooperation strategy that has been able to sell this much sought after commodity.

To be sure, the price of this export commodity, which could easily take over the number one spot of income-earning tin and rubber of yesteryears, has soared owing to steady demand from overseas.

And we’re still selling it in large quantities simply because a substantial number of Malaysians are willing to part with it (read: sell it) as they have no appreciation of, and use for, Integrity.

Rakyat Perak dan seluruh Malaysia marilah berkabung atas kematian demokrasi
dan berdoalah kuasa kepada rakyat untuk memilih di kembalikan serta merta.

InsyaAllah MB Nizar akan kembali berkuasa.
