Why more heat is on Ahmad Ismail

Bukit Bendera UMNO chief Ahmad Ismail once again saw himself in the spotlight for the wrong reason. MCA vice-president Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn is the latest personality who came forward to lambast Ahmad and called for him to be charged with sedition.

Ahmad had allegedly called the Chinese ‘squatters’ and said that ‘as the Chinese were only immigrants it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races’ during a by-election ceramah in Permatang Pauh on Aug 25.

BN component partner MCA, apart from the entire Chinese community, didn’t think that was a nice thing to say. Which explains why the Chinese community and the Chinese press are abuzz with this controversy since Ahmad uttered the unspeakable.

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi responded by saying that said he would tell Ahmad not to repeat such remarks and that he (Abdullah) thought Ahmad didn’t mean what he said.

This premier remark apparently didn’t go down well with component parties MCA and Gerakan. In fact, they had called for a stronger action against Ahmad.

In the wake of the ‘Merdeka celebration’ that had an overarching theme of unity, one wonders at this juncture what would the reaction of particularly other leaders in UMNO, and generally other political parties and leaders of other communities be in relation to this hot issue.

Ahmad Ismail is apparently echoing the sentiment of many UMNO leaders and members that the Chinese are “pendatangs” in this country and that is the main reason why they should not be given equality. I want to pose this question to Ahmad and also UMNO: For how long more must the Chinese (and also Indians) be in this country before they can be regarded as Malaysians, having equal rights to the land, which their forefathers have built up with their blood sweat and tears? Ahmad Ismail is not the only UMNO leader referring to the Chinese (and also Indians) as pendatang. Former UMNO MP for Jerai Badrudin Amirudin had on many occasions called the Chinese to “balik Tongsan” if they don’t like it here in Malaysia. We’re fortunate that we have Malay leaders like Anwar and civic minded Malays like Haris Ibrahim slamming Ahmad, identify the problem quickly and the Chinese have cooperated by only calling for Ahmad to be charged with sedition but not insult the Malays as Ahmad had insulted the Chinese. Anwar, who has the support of all races, is poised to take over the federal govt through defections or otherwise in a matter of time.

To be fair and seen to be fair, the BN government should charge him with sedition. I am very certain the BN government will press charges against any ordinary citizen/opposition parties member if they were to utter what Datuk Ahmad Ismail had said in public. This is really damn racial. And we have a useless PM just giving him a slap on his wrist only. The country is already having too many racists, time to put a stop to all this. All the money spent to promote racial unity, what this man said about the Chinese and if no action is taken against him by UMNO then you know what-lah.

MCA, Gerakan , don’t waste time… UMNO is totally racist and both of u know that as well. but both of you pretended to re-engineer your parties, by GOD will it happen? The people have deserted all of you BN. Today Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Dusun, Dayaks and other M’sian brothers are with PR and behind DSAI as a son of M’sian soil. We are disgusted when you’re holding BN flags and behind dead woods. It’s enough cheating us and you guys live in sins. Think of future generation, our sons our daughters, our families. Pls dissolve; you’ll be respected and remembered for the cause as great leaders.
After all everyone makes mistakes, we anak M’sia will forgive you guys, this is the month of Ramadhan, the gretest month for Muslim Brothers, let it show a new dawn.
To all Muslim Brothers and Sisters, Selamat Berpuasa and this year we’ll celebrate the Greatest Aidilfitri at DSAI’s home. DSAI we love you.

As Anwar Ibrahim would have sung to this racist UMNO brat: “You’re nothing but a hound dog…crying all the time…………just crying the same old crap.and you aint no friend of mine.”
Just hope this Ismail bloke is educated enough in English to understand all this.

  6. 6 Dewnasing 1 September 2008 at 9:56 pm

That was not even a slap on the wrist. It is much like holding that idiot’s hand and say, ‘let’s do it again!! OKT & KTK, the ball is in your court. Let’s see how soft you chap are going to squeeze. Otherwise, you will be buried with them.

  7. 7 Mag M 1 September 2008 at 10:09 pm

It is because of UMNO’s representatives always uttering racists statements and no severe punishment being taken by our PM or UMNO that has made the people, especially the non-Malays very angry and do not want to support Barisan anymore. UMNO has destroyed Barisan. This is our PM’s biggest misktake – allowing racists statements by UMNO reps to go unpunished. Just imagine if a non-Malay says the same thing about Malays. What will happen then? When there is no fairness, all is doomed in a country. Wake up PM

  8. 8 Ex Neutral 1 September 2008 at 10:41 pm

It’s not to long ago that we have an Indian/snake incident from an UMNO leader, but ok, fine, I’m sorry – apparently the person concern apologised.
Now this from Ahmad Ismail. It goes to show that these leaders need to play the racial card in order to gain support.Didn’t the election result knock some senses into them already? A lot of rakyat is not buying this anymore.Don’t they have other qualities to show in order to gain support?
And our dear PM, it’s that the best you can do? (I’ll ask him not to do it again)
Or shall I put it,it’s that how much you value us?

  9. 9 jan 1 September 2008 at 10:49 pm

Abdullah Badawi is at his weakest and he needs all the support he can get. Ahmad Ismail is also one of the votes he needs and he would very unlikely alienate him at this point in time.
That’s what happens when we have a weak president of UMNO.

It is this type of Umno Racist that the whole Country is sick of. Thank GOd we have a lot of New Fair minded, Good Muslim Malays in Keadilan & Pas who DO NOT TAKE THE SAME RACIST STAND. There is hope for all Malaysians when Pakatan Rules. REFORMASI !

  12. 12 hamzah 1 September 2008 at 11:40 pm

nice wayang ahmad, giving enough reasons for MCA and Gerakan to switch to Pakatan Rakyat? there’s your 15 MPs plus another 15 MPS from Sabah/Sarawak?

Anwar is getting closer to Putrajaya!

  13. 13 Lin Dan 1 September 2008 at 11:48 pm

what happens when all the chinese and indian and non-bumi decides to divert all their investments to other countries, or move all their investments and funds to other countries? the moment when they start to do that – that will signal the collapse of our banking system and also UMNO will be forced to stop all investment from going out including foreign funds. But then again, funds are slowly slipping away from malaysian soil, that’s why inflation is going up and up. the UMNO sapiens continue to provide racist remarks and are not aware that malaysia soon will collapse under piles of debts caused by corrupt elements in UMNO. Again, who cares – since the non-bumis are pendatang or illegal immigrants then might as well move/transfer all funds to other countries that can yield better dividends and profits. Just forget about malaysia, Malaysia is the only country in the world that treats their own citizens like 2nd class citizens or illegal immigrants. In fact, it is well known in the world community that Malaysia is the most racist country after Isreal. Even USA now have a black(obama) running for president, I can’t see why we can’t have the same. Time is running out, Malaysia is going to collapse soon – pls DSAI we must remove the UMNO sapiens before it is too late….

If a politician does not know his responsibility, he is simply not fit
to become an MP. This bloke Ahmad Ismail, is both ignorant and arrogant and felt fit to make an offensive remark on a minority race of this country. This is typical in UMNO culture… a questionable political party.
Malaysians no longer tolerate this sort of behavior, the arm of the law should be applied to the fullest on this offender.

  15. 15 selvaraja somiah 2 September 2008 at 12:56 am

As a fellow Penangite, Ahmad, you have disappointed me tremendously with the racist commentary about the chinese.

You know your racist attacks on the Penang chinese are unfounded and downright mean to the core. If you want to support Arif Shah and UMNO, that is your perrogative and you certainly have the right to endorse Arif Shah if you choose. However, demeaning Penang chinese who have never demeaned you or your fellow UMNO chaps is truly unfair and speaks volumes about the unfair nature of your character. I guess UMNO Bukit Bendera and all Penangites sees this as well, which is why you are so bitter and could never garner enough support at Bukit Bendera. Channel your energies into your failing career and cease in attacking those in the political world who have never hurt you directly.

How disappointing to hear you talk like that in Permatang Pauh.

I thought I liked you and attended your Hari Raya open house last year. I didn’t know you are just another mean jerk.

  16. 16 MelaysiaScrewedUp 2 September 2008 at 1:06 am

I just wonder why he is questioning cina for sharing goods with malay. There is no question at all, we have done it for 51 years ….
we will continue to do so. If he is so sincere for helping the poor malay … i suggest him to share half of his monies with the poor and needy Malay. What abt this Ahmad….. you are screwing up yourself and Badawi in this. clearly you are fighting for you own objective …. not the malays.

I wish you guys in umno “F..K YOU”, so do MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

  17. 17 jameschua 2 September 2008 at 1:46 am

    Hey Guys (& Ladies)

We should start compiling a national blacklist of all the politicians who are bigots, and post it in say wikipedia,

I am not internet savy to do this, so hopefully this is a good idea, so that our parlimen, our politicians etc can use this LIST of Malaysian Bigots for references.

  18. 18 Topaz 2 September 2008 at 2:04 am

Every now & then, some racist elements in Umno will just belittle the Chinese. I’m wondering why the MCA & Gerakan must hang on to the BN. It is fortunate that the result of 2008 GE is not the same as 2004, otherwise the non-malays, esp the chinese, would receive more insults & intimidations. Remember, the Keris wushu and its subsequent battle cry. It’s very scary then but now we don’t feel it anymore as we have grown callous in our hearts.

We know that we are being treated like the 3rd class citizens, not even the 2nd. That’s why we are hoping that PR will take over and that DSAI will keep his words that ‘Anak Malayu, anak kita; Anak Cina, anak kita; & Anak India pun anak kita”. At least there is something that we and our children can look up to.

Yesterday Malaysia celebrated its 51st birthday. That means for half a century, we are being discriminated, manipulated, bullied & deceived. Only God knows when this will end, till then we just can’t say “this land is mine, God gave this land to me”.

  19. 19 james dean 2 September 2008 at 5:29 am

This is pardonable, compared to Najib’s bathing his keris with Chinese blood.

  20. 20 ayornyor 2 September 2008 at 6:13 am

Chinese and Indian are also called immigrants in Australia, Canada, UK and USA … such a racist remark

  21. 21 jan 2 September 2008 at 7:41 am

Najib’s threat of bathing his keris with Chinese blood is not pardonable but so is this fella’s Chinese are pendatang and Badruddin’s get out of Malaysia. All of them are NOT pardonable and all of them are just as evil. Nowhere in the world does its leaders treat legitimate citizens this way. This is absolute bullshit and should be reported to the United Nations for human rights abuse.

  22. 22 david 2 September 2008 at 9:07 pm

EAT SH.T Ahmad Ismail!!!!!!! Brainless useless fellow. Go back to the forest and live on the trees.

  23. 23 Mike 3 September 2008 at 9:01 am

Shame of Umno, as a Chief Division Ahmad Ismail and as a datuk should mature enough what is supposed to mention and what is not. He should be more concerned to put BN together not separate BN. He should be behind bars for saying such of words that hurt a lot of chinese community and should we trust BN or UMNO in future….. the answer is here.

  24. 24 Gloryboxii 3 September 2008 at 9:55 am

He will definitely be SEVERELY PUNISHED if he utters those racist remarks abroad. It’s amazing how Malaysia, a country with so many different races and cultural background can tolerate all these kinda behaviour. And the Prime Minister is a WEAK leader.

  25. 25 abdullah 3 September 2008 at 12:18 pm

Ahmad kena minta maaf kepada semua!!!

  28. 28 ismith 3 September 2008 at 3:29 pm

gua sokong kata2 ahmad… memang betul cina pendatang… adakah salah kenyataan sebegini? check balik sejarah membuktikan bahawa ianya betul…

sebab kebanyakan melayu sudah lupa… especially belah pkr.. tak sedar perpecahan melayu… nak melayu malaysia hilang ketuanan dan hilang hak seperti di singapura?

  29. 29 KUMAR 3 September 2008 at 6:08 pm

I wonder what will happen if Chinese or Indians came here first instead of Malays. Why do we have Chinese schools, tamil schools etc. Why can’t we have one type of school that teach everything from BM, Mandarin & Tamil. All Malaysians are racist, trust me. The difference is the level of extremism on individual. Please show me someone who are not racist in Malaysia. Just accept the fact that we are Malaysian and we are racist (but don’t show it).

  30. 30 kelapamuda 3 September 2008 at 6:20 pm

ayornyor, the Chinese and Indians in America, UK, Australia etc that you mentioned and who are called immigrants are probably immigrants. Meaning, they were born outside those countries and later immigrated to those places. The Chinese and Indians citizens of Malaysia who are called immigrants by Ahmad Ismail were born in Malaysia and most of their parents and grandparents were too. Therefore, how can they be called immigrants. Chinese and Indians who were born in the UK or the US etc, and are citizens, are not called immigrants. Instead, they’re American, British etc.

  31. 31 Tham Chee Keong 3 September 2008 at 7:15 pm

Time has come for ALL Malaysians (racist & non-racist) to REMEMBER, DO NOT SAY OR DO ANYTHING UPON OTHERS AS YOU DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO SAY OR DO UPON YOU.

For that Ahmad, who have committed this MISTAKE get him to face the public & be shamed & recorded in U-tube. This IS one punishment I see most fitting.

  32. 32 sarawakman 3 September 2008 at 7:19 pm

    Vote BN for PERPADUAN?

  33. 33 Malaysian 9 September 2008 at 10:42 am

We don’t need Ahmad’s apologies, we need his repentance and others’ who are of the same mindset with him. If they are not, we don’t need them. Let’s pray that people like this will not be our leaders, shame on them!

  34. 34 Hope 9 September 2008 at 2:49 pm

If leaders think that way, how can their people be united? how can they compete with others? If they can show unfairness to one thing, they definely will show more unfairness to more things. Slowly a wonderful piece of land will be torn to pieces, then slowly into grains. Just like desert.

  35. 35 akarmalaysian 9 September 2008 at 8:56 pm

look at the way this ahmad has been fanning his remarks.wat does he mean by the malay and muslims hv their own limit and we will be forced to push the chinese for our own survival.wat kinda statement is dat?
