Tourism Minister Azalina loves ‘em all

Tourism Minister Azalina Othman Said yesterday gave the assurance that she’d treat all the states in the Federation equally as far as funding for tourism growth was concerned.

According to The Star today,

All states, including those governed by Pakatan Rakyat, will be given the same allocation for tourism development.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said there would be no cut in terms of aid and allocation.

I love them and they love me,” said Azalina, referring to Pakatan state governments.

She said this after chairing the first National Tourism Council Conference at the Saloma Cafe in Jalan Ampang yesterday.

Also present at the conference were tourism state exco members from Pakatan states of Perak, Penang, Selangor and Kedah.

This is a U-turn for the minister as not too long ago she had announced her decision to terminate all tourism memoranda of understanding with the Pakatan-ruled states, the kind of action that could hinder working relationship between the state and the Federal governments.

I am sure many of us would ‘love’ her for ‘loving’ us irrespective of who we are ideologically and where we are located geographically.

And with the current economic situation in mind, she even encouraged Malaysians to change their ‘holiday pattern and travel to more domestic destinations’.

Good advice, but wait a minute! Is this advice only meant for the ordinary Malaysians, not Cabinet ministers like her who, despite the cut in their travelling allowances, are still allowed to travel within the ASEAN region? (Mind you, before this cut they were able to spend their holidays annually in places beyond this region, like the US, Europe etc.)

So where do we go from here, Azalina?

Please take along pause before you say anything, Azlina. You know denying Malaysians of their right is not a wise thing to do. At least now you had admitted your mistake but certainly rakyat want to see that you really walk your talk. Don’t ever think again that rakyat Malaysia are a bunch of fools.

Azalina Othman is part of a new breed of ruthlessly ambitious young politicos for whom winning power and holding on to it by any means whatsoever is everything. I guess her role model must be Condoleezza Rice! What a pity, really.

Boycott Tourism to Malaysia until human rights and environmental abuses are stopped towards the Malaysian citizens and our once beautiful natural environment! I was taking the train with a couple of tourists from the UK and their comments were; where have all the rice field gone and fruit farms and so on? All one see mostly along the journey is the hideous, endless monstrous, shrouded in darkness, palm oil plantations! GO TO HELL MALAYSIAN TOURISM!

Why is that Azlina is encouraging Malaysians to change holiday pattern and travel more to local destinations based on the present economic situation?

What about Cabinet Ministers and their families overseas holidays paid by the Rakyat money? How can she have C.Rice as a role model when she initially denied Pakatan won states Tourism Development Funds. Maybe she thinks that the money belongs to her and thus the denial. What they say is `GIGO’ in IT terms befits the situation.
